Keep your microwave, toaster, can opener, and other small items unplugged when not in use. Use LED bulbs. Water saver shower-heads decrease the amount of water being used, which decreases water to heat. Don't use the heated dry in your dishwasher....
If you have central air, closing off unused rooms is very inefficient. Modern HVAC systems are made to have free airflow throughout the entire structure. Be cool there.
