Best ham glaze recipe with brown sugar maple syrup and pineapple / cherries for Christmas and Easter Baked Ham Dinner That Will Please Everyone At The Table!
8-12 lbs Pre-Cooked Smoked Spiral Cut Ham
1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup Real 100% Maple Syrup or Honey
20-oz. can pineapple ring slices (save the liquid)
6 oz. jar maraschino cherries (save the liquid)
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground ginger
Preheat oven to 350°F degrees and place the oven rack in the lowest position of the oven and remove the other shelves. Line a large roasting pan with non-stick baking paper. Place the brown sugar, maple syrup or honey, and the reserved pineapple and cherry liquids, mustard, nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger into a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Bring to a gentle simmer. Simmer for 5 minutes until reduced slightly. Use a small sharp knife to cut around the shank of ham in a decorative zig-zag pattern, about 4 inches from end. Carefully run the knife under rind around the edge of the ham and then lift off the rind in one piece by running your fingers between the rind and the pork fat. Place a pineapple ring on the ham. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple using a toothpick to secure the cherry. Continue to place pineapple rings and cherries over ham, slightly overlapping to cover it. Pour water into the prepared pan and then place the ham on a wire rack in the pan. Wrap the exposed shank in aluminum foil. Brush half of the glaze over pineapple. Bake for 30-40 minutes. Turn the pan 180° degrees. Pour on the remaining glaze using a brush to coat well. Bake for another 30-40 minutes until golden. After being baked , set aside for about ten minutes to rest and remove the toothpicks before carving into serving slices. Serve and enjoy the deliciousness! NOTE: The leftover sliced ham will make PERFECT smoked ham and swiss cheese sandwich sliders for snacks and lunches!
